The one person who can speak to teenagers about staying clear of drugs and alcohol is another teen. That's why CCM created Influence: The Contest.
Young people have their own unique perspective on everything. Truth is, today's young adults have the most power to stimulate change within their own crowd. That's why the Influence contest was created.
It's an opportunity for young people to use their favorite form of creative expression (visual, music, literature or performing arts) to portray the seriousness of alcohol and other drug use. And it's a contest.
So winners can get cash prizes, cool merchandise and more! In the past two years, Influence participation has been generated among teens and schools through TV and newspaper stories, direct mail, posters, print ads and outdoor boards.
Participation has included over 35 St. Louis area high schools and has reached over 65,000 students. Plus, thousands of parents and educators have also been reached. Influence is currently the most promising and active drug and alcohol prevention strategy in the high school system.
All proceeds not used to promote Influence benefit The National Council on Alcoholism & Drug Abuse-St. Louis (NCADA), which promotes a safe and healthy community free of the problems associated with alcohol and drugs.
